Introducing Annuelle

Other Half always welcomes an opportunity to try something new, so we’re excited to branch out beyond beer into the world of wine. We want our beer-loving community to be able to experience offerings from wine artisans near and far who either play an important role in our business or create wines from regions that support the products Other Half is known and loved for. Where beer is created daily, you get one chance every year to make wine - introducing Annuelle.

Now available by the glass or bottle at all NY state taprooms.

Cabernet Franc

2021 | Seneca Lake

The fruit for this wine was sourced from vineyards around Seneca Lake. It was aged 10 months in neutral barrels to maintain a fresh, fruit-forward style and was bottled without filtration or fining. Notes of ripe cherry, plum, white pepper, and a hint of thyme, all framed by silky tannins.

Dry Riesling

2021 | Seneca Lake Vineyards

The fruit for this wine was sourced from Seneca Lake vineyards. It was fermented half in stainless and half in neutral French oak. Both portions were aged on full lees to generate mid-palate weight/texture and it was bottled without fining. Notes of Granny Smith apple, pear, lime zest, and mineral with an herbal streak.

Chardonnay

It was fermented spontaneously in stainless steel, with one third aged (post-fermentation) in neutral barrels on top of Riesling lees. The Winemaker

Annuelle is wine from Other Half celebrating winemakers and regions we love. Our inaugural partner for this yearly series is Nathan Kendall. We have been working with Nathan for a few years incorporating his grapes skins, lees and must into our In Bloom series of beers.

His love of the Finger Lakes terroir and community runs parallel with so many of the ideals that make up our love and commitment to the FLX area. His wines are made with minimal intervention and spontaneously fermented, allowing the flora of the Finger Lakes to impart its unique characteristics on his creations. Because he loves wine even more than we do, we had to work with him to create wines that we can share with our community and highlight the accomplishments of such a talented winemaker and region. We are grateful for his patience and skill and hope you enjoy these wines as much as we do.

N. Kendall Wines was founded in 2011 by Finger Lakes native Nathan Kendall.  He is an internationally trained Winemaker who was featured in Wine Enthusiast’s 40 Under 40 Tastemakers in 2018. He has experience in Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Waipara (NZ), Adelaide Hills (AUS), and Mosel (GER), although the plan was always to return to the shores of Seneca Lake. His passion is to create wines in an old world style using quality grapes and minimal intervention.

Having traveled throughout the world focusing on cool climate regions and varietals, the Winemaker's focus is on Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wine.  All lots are carefully sorted, and the pristine fruit then undergoes long spontaneous fermentations. Post fermentation, the wine ages for months on the gross lees to enhance the texture. Wines are then carefully racked, never fined, and gently filtered before bottling.
